Ah--h-h! Sweet spring...look what is has brought us. These dainty columbine self seed and turn up in a different place every year. Every time I buy the larger even more beautiful varieties, like Aquilgia red or blue, they bloom profusely the first season, but never come back. So I gave up on them. Have u ever seen such a FAT little chipmunk, he has been dining on the roots of my plants all winter long and then comes the bird seed...i have tried everything to get him out of my flower bed, but to no avail. So I'm just trying to enjoy his presence. And then there is the bleeding heart, they are so quickly gone, but take no extra care, they are ever faithful and return every year.

I have really enjoyed this last year of freedom from work...I have painted my kitchen(almost 3x)couldn't find the right color! Cleaned the house from top to bottom and found a bunch of stuff to sell at the citywide sale in August. Taken all the seasonal decos I had in cardboard boxes from the attic, they are now stored in clear plastic containers in the basement on shelves. Have moved some plants in the garden to more appropriate locations. Dug out many black-eyed susans at least 6 bags and gave them all away. Still have more to remove...I made the mistake of letting them self seed for 2 years and they just went crazy, won't do that again. Now, I'm thinking of opening my shop again...would really like to retire, but that will probably never happen. My hubby is finally looking at building me a potting shed...that would make me very HAPPY, no more hauling lawn movers and snow blowers to his shop! Will try to get some more pics posted tonight. Hubby made me some copper tips for my soldering iron hoping that will solve the problem of the tips corroding. He just walked in the door, he was in Dousman helping some kid with his gokart. Guess I will start dinner.
Get out the garden trowel and the packets of seeds, it's time to plant!!!! Yay....spring is FINALLY here and I'm ready to get in the dirt! My perennial garden is pretty full, but I'm going to plant several packets of seed annuals this year for longer lasting color. The winter was very hard on my schrubs and the rabbits took care of some of my flowering bushes. I had chicken wire around several, but the snow was so high this year, it covered the chicken wire and the rabbits ate the rest! Don't forget to give someone a May Basket tomorrow!
