Cash for Klunkers...Cale's New Car

Cale has been driving his 95 Dodge Ram Truck for years. He bought it with 119,000 miles on it and now it has 220,000. He put a lot of work in it over the years he changed the exhaust so it had a really nice rumbling sound. I always recognized the sound of his truck when he came home to visit (which isn't often enough). Now, with his new vehicle he may want to take a Sunday drive to visit his MOM and DaD. It's sad to think it's going to be crushed in the cash for klunkers offer. $4500 toward the new vehicle, which ended yesterday. He got in that just under the wire. He ended up getting $1200 more than he paid for the truck in the first place. He's going to email a photo so we will always remember the DODGE RAM!

The trio in NYC, Emily is Cale's girlfriend. We just love her, she is so funny and pretty!

My lovely adult children, Cale and Heather, together in NYC. I wish we could all be together more often than what we have. Life is fleeting, speeding by, time seems to play tricks on us. Before you know it, we look back and find that there isn't much left. So, we cherish every second.

Take old tiles and paste together, stamp on them, paint, and add vintage dictionary text. Place in a jar with related objects, lace, scraps and sweet annie! Candy for the eyes...

Simply Charming Commode

Just found this delightful early tall commode at an auction 2 wks ago. It measures 67" tall x 39" wide and 18" deep. The back splash is one board! The lower doors open with a shelf for storage. Wouldn't it look great in a bathroom or a simply "white" room. It's very sturdy and clean with small repair to the draw by our master carpenter Jim Cunningham. Everyone loves roosters, don't they? Here is a delightful 2pc. covered dish, a set of 7 milk glass plates with hobnail edges, a creamer with little yellow chicks and a tiny little tin with petite fleurs. The next photo is a very early glass dome with the original wooden base, from the victorian era. It probably contained a hand beaded arrangement or a woven piece made from hair which was probably thrown out by someone who did not no the value of such a piece. The glass is hand blown and it's amazing it survived all these years. Next to it lies a charming very long glove box in excellent condition. Using the engraving process on wood called pyography. Then comes a vintage complete shoe shine box including the brush, buffing tool, leather cleaner and oil salve. Have never seen one so complete. The last photo is a small luggage vanity case filled with an antique brown transferware plate, some linens, a hand soldered pendant with pansies, a mustache cup, small vintage book and some greenery. The mirror in the case adds just the right touch.

I have added a tiny little crown to this gathering of delightful things. it's sitting on top of the words of Christ, who is afterall KING!

Here is a little vinegette I set up under my cloche inside the bowl of a fabulous birdbath I found at the antique's market. A small brown leather bound little bible dated 1864, personalized with the name Keyes. A pitch pot it peeking around the bible and behind it a flower frog holding small blueberry branches. I added some vintage wooden majong tiles, a pair of early handmade spectactles, and a vintage ledger sheet.

Windmills On Parade

Evansville is in the midst of an event called "WINDMILLS ON PARADE" just like cows on parade, horses on parade, lions on parade, etc. We will have 17 artist's work applied to pre-constructed windmills. 4 of the windmills have been installed and 4 more will be on main st this coming week. They will be auctioned off during our Windmill Harvest Fall Festival the first weekend in October. The auction will be held on Oct. 4th at 2:00pm. The artist will receive one half of the proceeds, the other half will be used toward the Harvest Festival. There will be activities all weekend long with live music, children's activities, pumpkin carving, food, a festival tent and much more! Plan on attending this fun-filled weekend! I will post a picture of my completed windmill within a few days. I still have to seal the cement and the paint. Can't wait to see the blades spinning away on Main St.

My Best Stash Ever!

I can't wait to use this stash in my jewelry and or collage work! I was very lucky to get the little dolls in one box at an auction, had to pay more than I wanted to, but you just don't find these little ones. The brass handmade cross and tiny little blue beads were given to me by a very dear friend. The little box has some tiny bottles holding seeds, they are waiting to be incorporated into a necklace. I set up at the Madison Antique's show at the Keva Center and found a dealer who brought me several tiny keys, which will also hang from a chain. I'm hoping to start soldering again very soon, these items will be for sale in my etsy shop as well as in my antique's center. The rain has finally stopped, after a week of off and on again, cloudy, humid days. Can't wait to get to upper Michigan next month...ah-h-h, the 4th of July in Alpha!

Remnants of my Past, have you ever seen a Rosebreasted Grosbeak, they are the most exquiste bird. The glass mosaic was done by an artist from Elkhorn. I just love it. Only once did this bird perch on my kitchen sill, it took my breath away, it is so striking. My rosary collection belongs with this bird. Some may think decorating an old burlap feed bag is out of the norm, it just works with the vines and flora. The tryptk was just purchased by me from one of the stores in Paoli, it's the one in the old grist mill. We had lunch at the Schoolhouse Cafe and I highly recommend it, I had stuffed Ravioli with spinach and ricotta cheese, the sauce was to die for! The gift store was wonderful too. I wanted to buy the curtains they have in their windows, however, they are no longer available.
